Essence of Eternity

Essence of Eternity
In enjoying the gifts of living life with brothers and sisters in Christ, Mimi and I experience eternal life. The real, redeemed deal. Our struggles will end one day ... but we do not wait to experience what's next!

Mimi and I thank God, and we thank you, for the precious family of faith that surrounds and supports us in so many ways. Please pray that we would be faithful and loving friends for those whom God brings into our lives.

Also, we ask that you pray especially for new and young relationships related to our ministry. God has done much over the last year and we are relating to many new friends. Please pray for understanding and God's direction throughout all of our relationships.

This month, I travel home to Kenya to enjoy teaching, preaching, and planning opportunities in the Nairobi area. In particular, please pray for planning meetings with new friends wanting our help in finishing the construction of an orphanage and clinic complex in Kennagop. Also, please pray for meetings with the leadership of both the Kenya Baptist Theological College and Daystar University. I will also be spending time with the children that we care for as our own. May our Holy Spirit guide us all into greater joy as we relate to each other!

Thank God for a fruitful December trip back home to Kenya! My meetings with brothers and sisters at the Kenya Baptist Theological College, Daystar University, and area churches were sweet, even if too short. Thank you, Lord, for bringing us together and for guiding our talks.

We completed our orphanage project funding, and we enjoyed exciting discussions with new friends concerning the further development of the health clinic and church plant in Kennagop.

My time with our African "children" passed like a vapor, but left me with more precious memories of shared hopes. I preached the graduation ceremony at the College, which became an amazing treat for me. I watched the first class that I taught in Africa graduate from college! May God be pleased to send them out like arrows into the hearts of hurting and needy people all over East Africa.

Our HBU graduate, Grant Rothberg, taught his first Bible class in Africa. What a testimony of God's grace and faithfulness - I could not have been prouder of Grant, his wife Carrie (who accompanied Grant), and God.

Thank you, Lord, for the time and opportunity. Just being with our African family of faith encourages me greatly, as I return to Houston for extended absences.
