Making ReadyApril 10, 2008 ![]() Mimi and I thank you for praying for peace. Our Kenyan family of faith remains safe and hopeful following the recent return of peace to Kenya.
We are busily making preparations for our summer mission in Kenya, as are our US students and other ministry partners.
My 2008 Kenya teaching, preaching, and mentoring schedule is full and God continues to call new laborers to work alongside us in our hearts' homeland. Three church groups are joining us to minister in Kenya this summer and students from HBU, Samford University, and Regent College, Vancouver will teach, preach, and enjoy a variety of other ministry opportunities in the Nairobi area with us. I will also continue to mentor African pastors and teachers - in growing numbers! Further, we now have 2 of my former US students at the University of Stellenbosch in South Africa continuing their biblical languages training, 2 more heading there soon, and 2 more hoping to move to Cape Town next January. God grows our work as He excites those around us with amazing ministry opportunities in Africa!
HaMoreh's Board of Directors and I push forward following our vision for 2008 and beyond. As you will understand, HaMoreh has been wiring emergency funds to our ministry partners in Kenya since early January. All available funds have been expended to help our Kenyan brothers and sisters (and the Kenyan teaching institutions involved) through their tragic emergency. HaMoreh now needs your support for our scheduled 2008 mission opportunities. Our current year budget for direct mission support to Kenya is $28,000, our 2008 budget for additional teaching and preaching resources to Kenyan pastors and Bible teachers is $5,000, and this year's budget for direct Kenyan student scholarships is $10,000. As HaMoreh receives funds in excess of these present ministry needs, they will be disbursed in meeting other related budgeted needs.
Mimi and I are humbly aware that our response to God's calling to minister in Africa is interwoven with your commitment to support us in this work. We thank God for you.
Mimi and I pray that He will bless you as you continue to journey with us.
Mungu akubariki ("God bless"),
Jamie and Mimi Johns
